Deia: A Piece of Paradise
The town of Deia on the island of Mallorca is a literary and artistic enclave in one of the most beautiful parts of Spain. And within this town, Cala Deia is a cove where the views simply overwhelm and change your previous notions of beauty. The pieces in my show are reactions to the land and sea scapes before me, as well as to the people lucky enough to be there.
I was inspired by images of galaxies I found. The beautiful flow of colors; intricate forms; and the mystery of such spectacles in the darkness of infinite space.

The visual forms of my paintings occur as the result of the arrangement and the accumulation of many circles. The circles are neither silent nor still. They spin. They keep moving. They are alive. There may be 70 circles, or 700, or 7000. There could even be more than that.
There is a name on each circle.
Each circle utters a name.
Each circle utters the same name.
I have made the act of painting as an act of remembering God.
To me, art is a tool to get close to God.
My painting is the flow of praise. It is the prostration of the heart.
Dhikr means remembering and commemorating God.
