Mini-Painting Workshop: Everyone’s “A Creative”
From 6 to 8 PM in our Lower Gallery, join artist member Lois Kampinsky for a drop-in mini-painting workshop open to all skill levels. This is a relaxed, hands-on opportunity to explore creativity through color and texture. Space is limited and materials will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis, so we encourage early arrival.

Featured Exhibitions:

  • Writ on Water by Micheline Klagsbrun, curated by Aneta Georgievska-Shine – Mixed-media works exploring memory, displacement, and identity through layered, ephemeral compositions.

  • Conceal Reveal by Robert Cwiok, curated by Gaby Mizes – Collages and archival prints that transform everyday materials into intricate visual abstractions.

  • Director’s Cut by Iza Thomas, curated by Gaby Mizes – Paintings inspired by the cinematic visions of six acclaimed directors, reflecting on the emotional spectrum of the human experience.

  • Fragments of Memory by Amity Chan and Lynda Andrews-Barry, curated by Iza Thomas and Robert Cwiok – A collaborative exhibition examining personal and political memory through diverse media, including painting, sculpture, and video.

We look forward to welcoming you for an evening of thought-provoking art and creative exploration.

Artist Talk with Dawn Flores

Third Thursday, May 15, 2025, 6:15 pm

During our monthly “Third Thursday” program, Dawn Flores will lead an artist talk about her exhibition “Unification: Where Past Meets Present the Future is Born.” The exhibition atones for racial injustice while pointing to a future that transcends the sins of our country’s foundation in white supremacy. This work reflects 30 years of her living in the former capital of the Confederacy and her ongoing effort to unlearn false narratives.

Free to the public ($10 suggested donation)

The Washington Center of ADA, ADA Art Gallery, May 2025 exhibition; The Shape of Things, by Kenneth Carbone.

Kenneth Carbone is a New York visual artist whose work explores the use of shape, color and contrast for their abstract beauty. Although inspired by what’s seen in nature, he offers no defined narrative. In a world of turmoil, he wants this body of work to invite personal interpretation and introspection to provide a respite from the clamor of contemporary life.

The artist is represented by EdithGraves.com. This exhibition is at the Washington Center in May at the ADA Art Gallery at 1627 21st Street, NW on Gallery Row. For more information about ADA Art Gallery contact 202-445-8557. @WashigntonCenterADAU
