In this series I set myself some impossible goal of painting both our explosive world and the beauty surrounding us. To paint the delightful and the disturbing simultaneously.  It draws inspiration from our world’s stage, and my thoughts about connections between nature and humans.

Working with newsprint collages and paints on canvas as well as paper, I explored harmony juxtaposed the explosive tensions, discord and conflict in our world. Gestural lines trace the movement, and energy traversing through figures in a dystopian landscape. 

 What starts as a representation of the darker aspects of life, then evolves into a light-filled scene of abstract figures entwined with nature, running, floating and colliding.

These paintings fulfill an important function for me. It involves creating a piece of art which gives me immense joy and also a means to grapple with the world of never-ending conflicts.  The show culminates in a final sculptural painted wood piece reflecting all the colors of my paintings entangled with black wire, tippling and turning, completely unstable and still rising above the fray.
