SECRETS OF THE ELEMENTS | A Collaboration in Word and Image
What happens when a chemist becomes an artist, and meets an advertising copywriter become a poet?
SECRETS OF THE ELEMENTS is a fusion of art and haiku in which artist Langley Spurlock and poet John Martin Tarrat tell a story as old as Hydrogen, as new as Copernicium and Flerovium.
When complete, SECRETS OF THE ELEMENTS will cover the entire period table: 118 artworks incorporating haiku. From Aluminum to Zinc and Zirconium, Spurlock and Tarrat have taken science out of school and transformed it into something for nearly everyone.
Artist and poet see image and verse not as picture and caption, but as one integrated entity -- with a life and a voice all its own. The result is a window on the world and the universe.
