Blossoms of Loss and Desire

Following her acclaimed solo exhibition at the Katzen Art Museum in 2015 - Free Fall Flow – Micheline Klagsbrun turns to the darker side of the botanical world in her new show titled Blossoms of Loss and Desire. Comprising paintings, works on paper, and mixed-media sculptures, this exhibition marks another subtle shift in her approach towards even more fluid and translucent forms and compositions.

The Usual Sins

Artist Miriam Keeler uses vibrant color and contemporary contexts to explore the proverbial 7 Deadly Sins in modern life. Are Gluttony, Envy, Sloth, Anger, Greed, Lust and Pride as old-fashioned as they sound? Or do they provide the energy that fuels our media-oiled, consumer-driven society? Through seven irreverent paintings the artist finds that visual imagery often leads to insights not so easily captured in words.

Landscape Visions           

The works in this exhibition include several landscapes and abstract paintings, which use fragments of photographs taken from the air of the earth's contours. In my work I express the joy and passion I feel when engaged with art--always conscious of form and structure, while line, color, and texture play against
each other.  Sometimes my work is more abstract but always responsive to nature.
