In a world overflowing with chaos, Stillness in the Noise offers a space for quiet reflection. Chris Chernow explores moments of intimacy and calm through a series of paintings and drawings that invite the viewer to pause.

The works on paper are rendered in traditional materials—vine charcoal, graphite, water-soluble graphite, and watercolor - while the drawings on linen incorporate similar media, with the addition of acrylic ink in one piece. These drawings often blur the line between drawing and painting, their layered washes intentionally suggesting painterly attributes. The oil paintings, created on both canvas and linen, continue this study of serenity and subtle emotion. Each piece evolved slowly, requiring patience and a willingness to abandon preconceptions. “I sought intimate moments to create paintings and drawings that produce a sense of calm in our chaotic world,” says Chernow. “I hope you enjoy this intimate look into quieter moments.”
