Photographing for me is an intense experience. Henry Wessel, the great photographer of the American West said, "Photographing has to do with the discipline of being actively receptive. You are not looking for something. You are open, receptive. At some point you are in front of something that you cannot ignore... It's thrilling to be outside your mind, your eyes far ahead of your thoughts."
I photograph because I feel compelled to capture things and take them home with me. It's a great pleasure and privilege to be able to do this. I've had a camera since I was very young and I can't imagine being without one. I've gone from a Brownie to a Leica to a Rolleiflex to a Nikon and now I use my iPhone for many of my photographs.
I began making black and white images on film. Now I make digital images in color. I enjoy seeing these images turned into prints and having the opportunity to share them with others.
