After six months as an intern at Studio Gallery, I had the incredible opportunity to spend five weeks in London studying the global art market at Sotheby’s Institute of Art. This immersive program allowed me to work alongside leaders in the field to explore market trends, develop valuation skills, make auction predictions, and conduct thorough market analysis. I also visited major galleries, museums, private collections, auction houses, and international art fairs, gaining insight into every corner of the art world
Through hands-on projects, I learned how to pitch art as an investment, run a commercial gallery, and build sustainable business models. I even had the chance to write exhibition reviews under the mentorship of leading art critics.
The foundation I built during my internship at Studio Gallery proved invaluable in London. Understanding how an artist cooperative functions helped me engage meaningfully with gallery directors abroad, comparing business models and day-to-day operations. My experience creating labels and catalogs at Studio Gallery also prepared me well for provenance and valuation work in the UK market.
Now that I’m back, I’m excited to apply what I’ve learned and contribute to Studio Gallery in new and meaningful ways. I’m grateful to be part of a community that values both growth and collaboration, and I look forward to continuing to learn and share these experiences with our vibrant network of artists and supporters.
